JJBA; the relationship between anime and fashion
Blog post description.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a series with cultural significance, even though most people who are inspired by the anime do not realise the origin of what they are consuming. It has inspired many meme formats, and the OST has also inspired multiple video trends, most notably the 'JoJo pose' trend involving the Golden Wind soundtrack. Although this is important to consider, I am going to be focused more on the relationship between this anime and fashion, because I feel its something that is not always as recognised between fans.
The pictures used at the forefront of this post are from one of the collaborations between GUCCI and JJBA, named 'Jolyne, Fly High with GUCCI', released in a one-shot manga by SPUR, a women's fashion magazine. They worked with the creative director of GUCCI for this, and they had previosuly worked with her before for another collaboration between the company and Hirohiko Araki (the creator of JoJo's).

These garments were created according to Araki's designs for the collab, showing that GUCCI not only wanted to feature the characters their own clothing, but they also wanted to take inspiration from the anime and its creator's designs. This is reminiscent of one of my favourite Lana Del Rey quotes ' life imitates art', and I think it's very interesting to consider the fact that a luxury brand used an anime's design concept in the creation of one of their products.
